Peace Garden
Two vacant lots became our Peace Garden featuring impermeable raised beds, hoop houses, a greenhouse and a Medicine Wheel.
Behind the Peace Garden
Our garden was one of our very first projects in 2014, starting simply by planting flowers on vacant lots. This is how we began to see each other differently — young men who had been labelled as criminals were in the dirt creating something beautiful, and elders who were afraid to go outside began bonding with neighbors over the beauty. Our Peace Garden is built for exposure, hands-on learning, celebration and ceremony. In this space, we connect with the earth and with each other.
