It takes one seed, one step, one chance to change a person’s life. And one dollar can go a long way in helping us make that happen.
Who We Are
The mission of I Grow Chicago is to grow Englewood from surviving to thriving through community connection, skill building, and opportunity.
A world where love lives in public. Cornel West said justice is what love looks like in public. We want to bring justice, hope, and love to all in our city and beyond.
Kinship: call people in not out; Audacious Hope: have the courage to remain hopeful; Unity: work across differences so we all can be free; Nonjudgment: if in doubt love; Sat Nam: share your truth and create space for everyone to share theirs
Our Change Philosophy
I Grow Chicago started in the streets, is supported by the streets, and is transforming the streets. We are creating a culture of hope in Englewood, with a community ready to make a difference. All our programs work to combat the traumatic effects of violence and poverty. Through our multi-modal approach, we foster thriving individuals and communities.
From one woman’s idea to a whole neighborhood’s heart, I Grow is the story of people coming together and working for change. Learn how Robbin Carroll first came to Englewood, who stepped up and stepped into rebuilding their lives and neighborhood, and how the Peace House came to be. It’s a history of violence and trauma but also one of hope, resiliency and most of all, love.
Strive to Thrive
Supporting individuals turning their lives around with everything from financial support to workforce training. We’re addressing trauma, skills deficits, and supplies needs to champion individuals and change the community.
Transforming the ground beneath our feet from broken and toxic to healthy and thriving. We’re growing food, expanding our minds, and creating a new way to connect with the Earth.
