CHICAGO – Jan. 13, 2018 – Nonprofit Organization I Grow Chicago hosts fifth-annual event, Ground In to Stand Up, to celebrate the life and work of Martin Luther King, Jr.; Ground In to Stand Up will continue I Grow Chicago’s mission of promoting safe spaces for all and fostering peace in the Englewood neighborhood through connection, healing and opportunities.

“The work of Martin Luther King, Jr. is critically important to the Englewood community, and this year the event is inspired by this passage: I could hear my inner voice saying to me: Martin Luther, stand up for truth. Stand up for justice. Stand up for righteousness.” says Erin Vogel, Co-Executive Director of I Grow Chicago. “With this passage inspiring the theme, we will encourage attendees to dig deep, and ask themselves what is so important in their lives that they will act on it or stand up for justice,” Vogel says.

Interested parties are welcome to attend the free event at the Peace Campus at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, located at 6402 S. Honore St. in Chicago.

Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in yoga led by Karampal Kaur of Sat Nam Yoga, sound therapy, art, a discussion of the life and work of Martin Luther King, Jr. and lunch.
